'CSI: NY' Actors Take an Active Role in Society
CSI: NY’s fifth season is well underway and fans are enjoying the appearances of guest stars on the highly acclaimed police procedural on CBS. Guest stars this season range from rapper Nelly to former American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry to Rumer Willis, daughter of Bruice Willis and Demi Moore. As the current season of CSI: NY is airing, the actors of the show took some time off to tend to some personal matters, which include supporting a presidential campaign.
In fact, Hill Harper, who plays Dr. Sheldon Hawkes on the CBS series, recently spoke to Today to reveal his thoughts on presidential candidate Barack Obama, with whom he shares a 20-year friendship.
"[Obama is] intelligent, extremely pragmatic. That’s the kind of leadership we need now. Everything that was great about him at Harvard Law School is still great about him now," Harper says of his former schoolmate. "Anyone who meets him understands how wonderful a leader he is. [If he gets elected, I believe] he will go down as one of the greatest presidents in history."
Additionally, Harper says, “Obama campaign is the most efficient campaign in the history of politics.”
Harper isn’t the only CSI: NY star who’s making waves, as Gary Sinise has basked in the limelight last week. While Sinise might not be endorsing any presidential candidate, he recently made an appearance in Turlock, California on Saturday as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for California State University, Stanislaus. There, he received an honorary doctor of fine arts degree from the university to honor his accomplishments as a philanthropist and contemporary artist. Moreover, he and his band, the Lt Dan Band, performed at the 50th Anniversary Kickoff Gala Concert in the University Amphitheatre.
Sinise says that the band, which has performed numerous times for the United Service Organizations, values the services of the American troops, explaining that, “I want our troops to know someone cares about them. It's important to support them. They and their families are going through a lot.”
Meanwhile, catch tonight’s episode of CSI: NY as “The Cost of Living” airs at 10pm. Follow the team as they investigate the death of a young archeologist who may have dug up the solution to one of the city’s oldest murder case. Later, they discover that almost anything—including a person’s life—can be purchased over the internet.
