Jorja Fox Reveals Why She Left 'CSI'
A lot of fans were excited to see Sara Sidle return to the set of CSI on the poignant premiere of the series' 9th season. Jorja Fox left the show right after the marriage proposal from Grissom (William Petersen) which confirmed the prolonged suspicion of fans that there was something romantic between the two. There were a lot of rumors as to what prompted Fox's departure. She tells Entertainment Weekly the real deal.
“There are so many things I want to do!” says Fox, 39. “Some are personal. Some are professional. And I really need to do some of them before I get too old.... It's a really intense place to work. A lot of the stories [on the show] do end sadly and badly. That's been one of the things I've struggled with — the violence… it's really good for me to take a break from it.”
Other than the violence that she said was getting too much for her, Fox said there was nothing else that made her leave CSI and the six-figure salary a week it came with. “It had nothing to do with money,” she says. “They offered me a raise at that point, but I declined because it included an extra year and George (Eads, costar) was still fired. It didn't feel right to take a raise.”
Moreover, Fox says the timing for her departure was very inopportune. Her official last episode aired mid-season last year. It happened just as the Grissom-Sara relationship was about to achieve a milestone.
“One of Sara's biggest hopes was that her hiring seven years ago would lead to a very significant, stable relationship with Gil. So it is rather ironic that Sara should finally get this proposal and we find later in the season that she would be disappearing from CSI.”
Definitely, Fox assures, she might be back and she did grace For Warrick. “Let's just say if there is an opportunity to guest-star, I'd be thrilled,” she says.
