'CSI' Rookie At Ease with Everyone - Except Grissom
Previously, we reported that a survey among CSI viewers revealed that more than a third vowed to stop watching the CBS procedural once Gil Grissom (William Petersen) leaves midseason sometime in January. CSI is taking a break this week, with the next new episode airing next Thursday called “Young Man with a Horn.”
On the last episode of CSI, the team investigated the death of a woman who was married to a man who killed someone twelve years ago. Meanwhile, The Miniature Killer Natalie Davis was on trial, and Grissom appeared to testify about her mental state. At the end of the episode, Grissom found a broken tile in Natalie's jail cell with a miniature piece under it. As it turned out, it was a miniature version of Davis hanging with a piece of string. This episode, as expected, reeled in 18.43 million viewers, the most for that night.
In other news, former CSI regular Gary Dourdan, who played Warrick Brown, was set to star as the late Phil Lynott in a biopic about the Thin Lizzy frontman. There are rumors that the rest of the band have opted to stop production because the drug use was sensationalized and eclipsed Lynott's talent.
Speaking of Warrick, the person who filled up the gap Lauren Lee Smith, who plays newbie Riley Adams, said as early as now, she's starting to see how the rest of the team works, and she herself has started to bond with her fellow CSI's.
"It's very interesting seeing how her relationships are and the chemistry between each of the characters," she says. "I find that Riley and Greg (Eric Szmanda) sort of have this brother-sister, back and forth banter, and then Nick (George Eads) sort of doesn't really put up with any of Riley's crap. Riley looks up to Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) a little bit. She sees this strong, beautiful woman… (As for Grissom), she likes to sort of question him. She goes against any sort of authority figures a little bit.”
