CSI: NY: Previewing Episode 5.24 "Grounds for Deception"
We're almost to the CSI: NY finale, folks, and it simply means we've got to say goodbye to someone soon. Actually, tomorrow night. Relish the moment.
But first, there's the episode last week, which I actually liked because of the way it tied every element of the plot in. I don't know. I guess I have something for things that suddenly make sense in the end, either because of the dialogue or the editing. In this case, it's the classic one-goes-and-another-arrives ditty, or better yet, the letting go of one perfectly tying in with the event that I know you've all been waiting for: Lindsay giving birth.
But that's aside the point for now, though. There's a weird sense of magic last week. One's hiding his daughter's involvement in an accident that killed a teenaged girl. One's plotting revenge by ordering a hit on the person who's doing the hiding. (I'm making it sound complicated, I know.) One's not doing anything, because suddenly the hit's slapped on the daughter. It's a very complicated matter when you're powered by grief, which is powered, in turn, by love--the reason why Talmadge Neville (guest star Charles S. Dutton) covered up for his daughter, and the reason why Katharine Donovan (guest star Mare Winningham) wanted him to die.
And, of course, one of those rare moments when Mac (Gary Sinise) lets her go after confronting her with what he's already learned. Compassion, powered by love. That beats them all.
With that said, can I just say the way Lindsay (Anna Belknap) announced her going to labor was funny, and perhaps, weird at the same time? Who would've thought that Adam (A.J. Buckley) would be the one she'll find? I was expecting someone with a better semblance of preparedness--say, Hawkes (Hill Harper) or the dad Danny (Carmine Giovinazzo)--but, heck, we ended up with someone who almost didn't get it. Just the right hint of humor on what could've been a very intense episode--especially considering the one before that--but doesn't distract from the overall feel. That magic never went away.
So, is the baby named Lydia or Lucy? We might know in tonight's episode of CSI: NY, which sees Stella (Melina Kanakaredes) finally wrap up her investigation on those missing ancient Greek artifacts. When the killings continue, she hands in her badge--and flies to Greece with Mac, where they find out things that are bigger than they imagined. And expect a few more revelations on Stella too. What else do you expect from an episode which Kanakaredes herself wrote? That's CSI: NY, tonight from 10pm on CBS.
The photos are, as always, below. Oh, and tomorrow night, the finale, also at 10pm. Don't say I didn't hype you up.
